FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CMA EXECUTES MOST SUCCESSFUL AUDIO PUBLISHERS CONFERENCE AND AUDIES AWARD SHOW TO DATE PRINCETON JUNCTION, NJ – June 15, 2009 – Creative Marketing Alliance (CMA), the full-service marketing and event planning firm, recently completed two successful major events on behalf of their client, the Audio Publishers Association (APA)—the Audio Publishers Association Conference (APAC) and the Audies®, the only award show devoted entirely to honoring spoken word entertainment. APA praised CMA for expert event planning on- and off-site for the two events, which were held Thursday, May 28 and Friday, May 29 respectively, in New York City. The association’s annual conference was co-located with Book Expo America, the publishing industry’s major exhibit and convention, at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City. CMA managed marketing and promotion activities for APAC, including the design of signage as well as publicity and event planning duties such as registration, logistics and serving as a liaison between the client and the convention center staff. The 14th Annual Audies Gala was held on the night of May 29 at the New-York Historical Society. Often considered the “Oscars” of the audiobook industry, the Audies are the only completely juried awards program covering audiobooks. CMA’s event planning staff coordinated everything from food and beverage selections, to attendee registration, as well as the production of the 31 awards to be given out and organizing the night’s program. The prestigious event attracted a variety of industry veterans and celebrities including Newbery Medal-winning author, Neil Gaiman (The Graveyard Book, Stardust), bestselling author and narrator, David Sedaris (When You Are Engulfed in Flames), film and television star, Bronson Pinchot (Perfect Strangers, Risky Business), Emmy-award winner, Bobby Cannavale (Will & Grace, The Station Agent) as well as renowned audiobook narrators Jim Dale (Harry Potter series), Grover Gardner (The Adventures of Tom Sawyer) and Simon Vance (Great Expectations). The awards gala was promoted through the association’s website (also managed by CMA), public relations and email marketing leading up to the event. The PR team helped secure a segment of the Audies on Whipple’s World, a show on local news station, New York 1, as well as a radio segment on WGBO’s Morning News helping to raise consumer awareness of audiobooks and spoken word entertainment. “Every year our staff continues to develop new ways to make these prestigious industry events even more educational and entertaining,” said CMA president and CEO, Jeff Barnhart. “Attendees commented that this year’s events were the best to date.” CMA works with clients to provide comprehensive strategic marketing communications programs with the goal of driving bottom lines and increasing visibility in the marketplace.
